Lettering Books I Love and Recommend
Updated: Oct 12, 2020

When I first starting lettering it was SO hard to find a lettering book.
I found freebies through Google searches and Pinterest that I used and a few tutorials that people had posted, but this is one of the first books I ever picked up and used - Peggy Dean's The Ultimate Brush Lettering Guide. I did her Skillshare Class too. I really couldn't get enough. The search for tools to learn more began.
Now it's so difficult to choose a lettering book because there are SO many.
I have favorites to begin with and favorites as you grow. I have favorites because of the people who have influenced me and I love their style and favorites simply because of the way they are set up. So, let's begin. As we go, I will include links (if available for purchase).
For Beginners:
The Ultimate Brush Lettering Guide by Peggy Dean
Super Simple Hand Lettering by Kiley Bennett
Hand Lettering 101: An Introduction to the Art of Creative Lettering by ChalkfullofLove
Lettering and Modern Calligraphy: A Beginner's Guide by Paper Peony Press
For Faith-Based Lettering:
My Church Lettering Journal by Amanda Arneill
Faith and Lettering by Krystal Whitten (currently sold out at the time of writing this - keep searching it always comes back in stock)
For Intermediate Lettering (think learning layout, expanded styles, etc)
Mastering Hand-Lettering by Mye De Leon

I will venture into books on Sketch Noting some other time. I hope this is helpful. I you have questions, please feel free to reach out. You guys know I LOVE to talk!
